The Commanders are preparing to make their second pick in the first round on Thursday night. In Washington, they hope this choice turns out better than their 2021 pick.
Back then, they selected linebacker Jamin Davis as the 19th choice. Although he’s started 36 games over three seasons, his performance hasn’t met expectations for a pick at that stage of the draft.
Given this, it’s not surprising that according to Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post, the Commanders will not extend Davis’s contract with a fifth-year option.
Choosing to exercise the option would mean guaranteeing Davis $14.483 million for the 2025 season.
So far, Davis has made 269 tackles, seven sacks, one interception, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in his career.
