Ezekiel Elliott has returned to Dallas, but this time he’s earning a lot less money than before with the Cowboys.

Elliott has agreed to a one-year contract worth $3 million, with $2 million guaranteed, as reported by Clarence Hill of the Star-Telegram.

It’s a significant drop in pay for Elliott, who earned $70 million over seven seasons with the Cowboys from 2016 to 2022. However, it reflects the current situation in the NFL running back market, where big paydays are hard to come by.

While Elliott had successful seasons with the Cowboys, leading the league in rushing twice in 2016 and 2018, his performance has declined recently. Last season with the Patriots, he had his lowest rushing yards at 642 and his lowest yards per carry at 3.5.

Elliott is expected to undergo a physical with the Cowboys today, and his signing should be official afterward.
