Tiger Woods, following his completion of all four rounds at the Masters last month, is eyeing participation in the remaining majors on the PGA Tour calendar for the year. During an appearance on NBC’s Today show, he expressed hope that he would be able to compete in the next three majors scheduled throughout the summer.
This marks a significant milestone for Woods, as the Masters was the first major tournament where he completed all four rounds since 2022, coincidentally also at Augusta.
In discussions prior to the Hero World Challenge, Woods had outlined his aspiration to partake in one event per month during the 2024 season, indicating a concerted effort to regain consistency in his tournament appearances. He noted a positive progression in his physical condition, expressing a lack of the debilitating pain that had previously hindered his performances, particularly evident during his time at Augusta.
Injuries have been a recurring challenge for Woods throughout his illustrious career, with recent years punctuated by significant setbacks that have disrupted his playing schedule.
Notably, a severe leg injury sustained in a single-car accident in February 2021 resulted in extensive fractures and subsequent surgeries, casting doubt on his future in competitive golf. However, his return to the Genesis Invitational in February 2022 marked a symbolic comeback to the sport.
Despite a commendable start at the Masters, where Woods finished one-over par through two rounds, he faced difficulties over the weekend, concluding the tournament with a plus-16 overall score.
Nevertheless, his commitment to a strategic one-tournament-per-month schedule aligns favorably with the upcoming major tournaments on the calendar, including the PGA Championship in May, the U.S. Open in June, and the Open Championship in July.
