Cleveland Guardians’ outfielder Steven Kwan will have more tests done after leaving Saturday’s game due to a tight hamstring.

Kwan, who started the day as the American League’s leading hitter with a .356 batting average, informed manager Steve Vogt about feeling tightness in his hamstring while making a running catch along the foul line during Cleveland’s 7-1 victory against the Los Angeles Angels.

Vogt mentioned that Kwan was taken out in the fourth inning as a precaution because it’s early in the season, and the team doesn’t want to risk anything with their leadoff hitter and two-time Gold Glove winner.

Kwan will undergo further imaging tests and receive a re-evaluation. More updates on his condition are anticipated on Sunday, when the Guardians and Angels conclude their three-game series.

Gabriel Arias replaced Kwan in the fourth inning.

At 26 years old, Kwan has emerged as one of the AL’s promising young talents in just two seasons. Following a .298 batting average as a rookie, he hit .268 in 2023 while securing his second consecutive Gold Glove award for outstanding defense.

Kwan has started this season impressively, leading the league in hits and already tallying seven three-hit games.
