Amid troubles for its American owners, Belgian football club Standard Liege couldn’t play a league game on Friday because fans blocked the team bus from reaching the stadium.

Standard is owned by Miami-based 777 Partners, facing a $600 million lawsuit in New York and grounding its Australian airline.

777’s big move to buy English Premier League club Everton has stalled, causing doubts.

Standard fans protested against 777, leading to the club being under another temporary transfer embargo.

Standard was set to host Westerlo but couldn’t due to fan blockades.

777 also owns Genoa in Italy, Hertha Berlin in Germany, and Vasco da Gama in Brazil.

There are reports that company owners Josh Wander and Steven Pasko have left the soccer investment division’s board of directors, and 777 has sought bankruptcy advice in Miami.
