Caroline Garcia, a two-time French Open doubles champion, was named to the French tennis team for the Paris Olympics on Friday, though her frequent partner Kristina Mladenovic was not included.
Garcia and Mladenovic have won titles at Roland Garros, the venue for next month’s Olympics, in 2016 and 2022. They last played together at the Australian Open, reaching the quarterfinals, but haven’t partnered since February.
Mladenovic, once ranked No. 1 in doubles, has dropped to No. 55 but boasts nine Grand Slam doubles titles, including four at the French Open.
During this month’s Roland Garros, Garcia competed only in singles and exited in the second round.
At the Olympics, she will team up with Diane Parry for doubles. Clara Burel and Varvara Gracheva complete the women’s team.
Edouard Roger-Vaselin, winner of the French Open mixed doubles, will partner with Fabien Reboul in the men’s doubles.
Gael Monfils, heading to his fourth Olympics at age 37, previously reached the quarterfinals in Beijing 2008 and Rio de Janeiro 2016.
Also representing France in men’s tennis are Ugo Humbert, Arthur Fils, and Corentin Moutet. The Olympic tennis competition begins on July 27th.
