A’ja Wilson scored 28 points and became the top scorer in franchise history on Sunday as the Las Vegas Aces defeated the Dallas Wings 104-85.
Wilson also grabbed 10 rebounds, marking her 11th double-double of the season. She made 11 of 22 shots from the field, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range. The top pick in the 2018 WNBA draft now has 4,301 career points, surpassing Sophia Young-Malcolm (4,300).
Kelsey Plum contributed 23 points, Jackie Young added 18, and Chelsea Gray scored 12 for the Aces.
Wilson and Plum combined for 13 points each in the first half, shooting a combined 10 of 18 from the field. They scored the final 11 points of the half to give the Aces a 51-48 lead at halftime.
Plum was fouled while making a driving layup and converted the free throw for an and-1 to close out the second quarter. Wilson then opened the second half with a jumper and a 3-pointer, followed by Alysha Clark’s 3-pointer that extended the lead to 60-48.
Dallas cut the deficit to as few as eight points twice early in the fourth quarter, both times after baskets by Odyssey Sims, but couldn’t get closer.
Sims led the Wings (5-17) with 25 points, her highest scoring game in the WNBA since August 17, 2021, when she scored 26 for the Atlanta Dream. Natasha Howard added 14 points, and Arike Ogunbowale contributed 13.
Sims, who played 28 games for the Wings last season, signed a salary-cap hardship contract on June 25 due to injuries to Satou Sabally, Natasha Howard, and Maddy Siegrist. She scored 18 points in her first game back and helped end the Wings’ 11-game losing streak with a 94-88 win over the Minnesota Lynx.
Las Vegas (13-7), coming off a six-game winning streak that was snapped with a 98-93 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday, set a season high for points in a game and scored over 100 points for the second time this season.
