The NBA’s Board of Governors gave the green light to the league’s next media rights agreements with Disney, NBC, and Amazon Prime Video during its meeting on Tuesday. This moves the NBA closer to finalizing the 11-year deals, valued at approximately $76 billion.
The next critical step involves Warner Bros. Discovery deciding whether to match one of these deals within five days. This would extend their longstanding relationship with the NBA, dating back to the late 1980s.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver refrained from sharing specifics about when the five-day window starts or if it has already begun, citing the ongoing process. He emphasized that the negotiations aimed to achieve economic goals while enhancing fan experience through increased broadcast and streaming options.
Starting from the 2025-26 season, the new agreements are set to include ESPN, ABC, NBC, and Amazon. These deals are poised to surpass the current record-setting $24 billion, covering a broader scope of games and ensuring global accessibility via streaming services.
ESPN and ABC will continue to broadcast key NBA events such as the NBA Finals, which have been on ABC since 2003, along with one conference finals series and numerous regular season games.
