During an interview on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast hosted by Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe, star wide receiver Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders hinted that he intends to remain with the team amid ongoing rumors linking him to the New York Jets this summer.

Last week, Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers expressed excitement about playing with Adams again, prompting former Jets quarterback and current NFL analyst Boomer Esiason to suggest multiple times that Adams could start the 2024 season with the Jets.

Adams and Rodgers played together for the Green Bay Packers from 2014 until Adams joined the Raiders through a trade in March 2022, signing a five-year, $141.25 million contract.

During the podcast, Adams acknowledged that “the idea of playing with Aaron is obviously fantastic.” However, the 31-year-old seems ready to demonstrate he can excel regardless of who throws him the ball, whether it’s 2023 fourth-round pick Aidan O’Connell or veteran Gardner Minshew with the Raiders.

“I’m not afraid to admit that he definitely helped me improve, but he didn’t create me,” Adams commented about Rodgers. “I didn’t ‘need’ him, but having him definitely made life a lot easier.”

On Tuesday, Adams’ agents clarified that “he is expected to remain with the Raiders as there have been no talks of trading him.”

Despite Esiason’s remarks, there has been no public indication that the Raiders are considering trading Adams to the Jets or any other team before Las Vegas’ season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers on September 8.
