Luis García Jr. hit a home run for the second day in a row, and rookie James Wood drove in three runs with a bases-loaded triple to lead the Washington Nationals to a 4-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday.

Mitchell Parker pitched six scoreless innings to earn his first win since June 16, helping Washington win back-to-back games after a five-game losing streak, which was their longest of the season.

Gary Sánchez homered for the Brewers, who lost the final two games of a three-game series and have dropped four of their last five games. This year, Milwaukee went 2-4 against Washington, marking the first time since 2015 that they lost a season series to the Nationals.

“They play us tough,” Brewers manager Pat Murphy said. “They did the same thing to us in Milwaukee. They played really good and they played free. We’re young and vulnerable and going through it a little bit. You can make all the excuses you want with injuries and inexperience, but every team goes through it and we’re going through it.”

García put Washington ahead in the first inning with his 13th home run of the season, hitting a 3-1 fastball from Tobias Myers to center field.

The second baseman, who also homered in Saturday’s 6-4 win, has had seven multi-hit games in his last 10 and is batting .398 (33 for 83) with six homers and 17 RBIs since July 3.

“I think he’s just seeing a beach ball right now,” Myers said. “He’s hitting the ball pretty well. He’s a good hitter, but he’s really seeing the ball well.”

That was all the Nationals got against Myers (6-5), who gave up four hits and struck out two in five innings. Washington took advantage when left-hander Hoby Milner came in to start the sixth, loading the bases with three singles.

Wood then hit a fly ball down the left-field line. It got past a diving Jackson Chourio and bounced around the corner, allowing all three runners to score on the triple, making it 4-0.
