The Yankees said that Volpe was checked by team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad and that X-rays showed no fractures.

“I think he’s going to be fine,” manager Aaron Boone said after the game.

In his second season, after hitting .209 as a rookie, Volpe is currently batting .257 with 11 home runs and 45 RBIs.

Before the All-Star break, Volpe was batting .245, but he has hit .320 (24 for 75) in 18 games since the break.
