The Yankees activated Jazz Chisholm Jr. from the 10-day injured list on Friday, after he was out with a sprained left elbow, and he was included in the lineup against the Rockies.

Chisholm, who was eligible to return on Friday, was set to bat fifth and start at third base for the series opener at Yankee Stadium.

Chisholm was injured on August 12 during a head-first slide into home plate while scoring against the White Sox. Initial X-rays were clear, but surgery was considered until an MRI showed no damage to his UCL.

Since joining the Yankees from the Marlins on July 27, Chisholm has hit .316 with seven home runs, 11 RBIs, and five stolen bases in 14 games. Overall, he has a .257 average with 20 home runs, 61 RBIs, and 27 stolen bases.

He had a strong start with the Yankees, hitting seven homers in his first 12 games, a franchise first. Chisholm played 13 of his first 14 games at third base, a position he hadn’t played before in the majors.

“He’s been great for us since joining,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. “He was eager to play last Friday before being placed on the IL, so he was ready to get back.”

To make room for Chisholm, the Yankees sent infielder Oswald Peraza to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after Thursday’s game.
