Angel Reese’s remarkable rookie season has come to an end.

On Saturday night, the Chicago Sky forward announced on social media that she has a wrist injury, which the team confirmed will keep her out for the rest of the season.

“What a year. I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2 lol,” Reese wrote.

“Through it all, I have showed that I belong in this league even when no one else believed. All I have ever wanted was to come into the W and make an impact. I can confidently say I have done that and will strive to keep doing so.”

Reese, selected as the No. 7 pick in the draft, averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game, the highest rebound average in WNBA history. She also set a rookie record with 26 double-doubles, her most recent being in a 92-78 victory over Los Angeles on Friday night.

Since facing off against Indiana rookie Caitlin Clark in the NCAA championship two years ago, Reese has become a key figure in boosting the WNBA’s television ratings, attendance, and merchandise sales.

Earlier in the season, Reese broke the league record with 15 straight double-doubles and set the mark for total rebounds in a season with 446, surpassing Sylvia Fowles’ previous record of 404. She also set a record with 172 offensive rebounds, with A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces currently having 406 rebounds this season.

Chicago is vying for the final playoff spot, currently tied with Atlanta for the eighth position. The Sky will play against Dallas on Sunday.

Reese is set to participate in the new 3-on-3 league, Unrivaled, which will start this winter in Miami.
