Olivia Gadecki kept up her great performance in Mexico on Friday by reaching the semifinals of the Guadalajara Open after winning against Martina Trevisan 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.

The 22-year-old Australian, ranked 152nd, took advantage of eight out of ten break-point opportunities to defeat Trevisan, who had reached the Roland Garros semifinals in 2022, and made it to her first WTA semifinal.

Gadecki came to Mexico with only two wins over top-100 players, but she has now achieved three this week, including a second-round victory over world No. 11 Danielle Collins.

“There’s a lot of things I’m proud of this week,” Gadecki said.

In the semifinals, Gadecki will compete against Camila Osorio, who won against Kamilla Rakhimova with scores of 7-6 (6), 6-1.

In the other semifinal, fourth-seeded Caroline Garcia will play against fifth-seeded Magdalena Frech, who won 6-4, 6-3 against Marina Stakusic.

Garcia moved forward earlier because Marie Bouzkova withdrew due to illness.

The tournament is taking place on hard courts at the Complejo Panamericano de Tenis in Guadalajara.
