Cristiano Ronaldo has a virus and didn’t travel to Iraq with Al-Nassr for their AFC Champions League Elite debut match against Al-Shorta on Monday.
Al-Nassr, Ronaldo’s Saudi Arabian team, stated that the Portugal forward “wasn’t feeling well” and “was diagnosed with a viral infection,” and the team doctor confirmed he needs to rest.
While playing for Portugal in the Nations League, Ronaldo recently scored goals against both Croatia and Scotland, bringing his record for international goals to 132.
Ronaldo has won five UEFA Champions League titles but has not yet won a major trophy with Al-Nassr.
This is the first season of the Elite version, which has replaced the AFC Champions League as Asia’s top club tournament.
Ronaldo might make his debut in the Elite tournament against Qatari club Al-Rayyan on September 20 in Riyadh.
