Manchester United faced a tough loss against Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday, losing 3-0 at Old Trafford while their captain, Bruno Fernandes, was sent off.

Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski, and Dominic Solanke scored for Tottenham, marking United’s third defeat in the league this season, leaving them in 12th place.

“First we have to deal with this and show resilience. This is not good enough,” said coach Eric ten Hag. “We have to accept this and get better. Focus on the next game and do things better than we did today.”

Tottenham moved up to eighth place, enjoying four consecutive wins across all competitions. In contrast, United has not won in their last three games and has only one victory in their last five league matches.

Fans expressed their frustration, with boos echoing in the stadium at the final whistle, and some had left early after Solanke’s goal, prompting Spurs fans to chant, “Is there a fire drill?”

Despite the loss, United’s goalkeeper Andre Onana made crucial saves, denying Timo Werner on two separate occasions and stopping Solanke from adding to his tally late in the game.

The match started poorly for United, as they fell behind just three minutes in when Johnson scored from close range after defender Micky van de Ven made a run and crossed the ball into the box. Johnson almost scored again but hit the post.

United struggled to make an impact, with Alejandro Garnacho having a rare chance that also hit the post.

Things got worse for United when Fernandes received a straight red card for a dangerous challenge on James Maddison just before halftime.
