Daniel Ricciardo’s time in Formula 1 may be finished, but the head of the Australian Supercars series has extended an open invitation for him to race in their touring car circuit.

Ricciardo, an eight-time F1 race winner, was let go by Red Bull Racing in late September after a disappointing 2024 season, marking the end of his 14-year career in F1.

At 35 years old, Ricciardo made a significant mark on F1, especially as one of the prominent figures in the sport’s growth in the United States, thanks to Netflix’s “Drive To Survive” series. However, he has not shown interest in moving to American racing series like IndyCar or NASCAR.

Supercars chief Shane Howard stated on Thursday that Ricciardo would be welcome to compete in Australia’s top racing series.

Howard made these remarks ahead of the Bathurst 1000 race on Sunday, which takes place in central New South Wales, about 200 kilometers (120 miles) west of Sydney.

Ricciardo has previously expressed a desire to compete for the title of King of the Mountain at the famous Mount Panorama circuit at Bathurst. He has also tried out Supercars cars in earlier years.

“If Daniel’s listening, we want you to race here,” Howard said. “Wouldn’t that be fantastic? To have someone of Daniel Ricciardo’s quality as a driver.”

“He’s got an enormous personality. To have him in one of our cars would be very special. We’ve got an open invite to Daniel.”

Howard mentioned earlier this month that Supercars would reach out to Ricciardo’s management at the right time after his F1 exit.

Ricciardo has been replaced by 22-year-old New Zealander Liam Lawson for the rest of the F1 season. The next F1 race is the United States Grand Prix on October 20.
