Week 6 of the 2024 NFL season may not have had many close games, but it certainly delivered plenty of excitement for football fans. Bears quarterback Caleb Williams had an impressive game, completing 23 of 29 passes for 226 yards and four touchdowns, showcasing the team’s recent improvements.
Meanwhile, in Texas, the Detroit Lions delivered a historic blowout against the Dallas Cowboys, winning 47-9 at AT&T Stadium. This marked the Cowboys’ worst home loss under owner Jerry Jones, who turned 82 the same day. The Houston Texans spoiled the NFL debut of New England Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye, defeating the Patriots 41-21. Texans running back Joe Mixon, returning from injury, was the star of the game, rushing for 102 yards and a touchdown. Maye, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 draft, had flashes of brilliance, throwing for three touchdowns, but his inexperience was evident, as he also threw an interception early in the game.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel made history in his team’s 36-24 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night. Samuel became the first wide receiver in NFL history to record both 20 touchdown receptions and 20 touchdown runs, following his 76-yard touchdown catch. The 49ers’ victory solidified their status as one of the NFC’s top teams, while the Seahawks struggled to contain Samuel’s explosive playmaking.
Elsewhere, the Green Bay Packers cruised to a 34-13 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs had a standout performance, diving for a key touchdown, while the Packers’ defense held the Cardinals in check. The win keeps Green Bay competitive in the NFC playoff race as the team continues to build momentum.
In Denver, the Los Angeles Chargers defeated the struggling Broncos 23-16. The Broncos’ season woes continued, and despite a strong defensive effort from Pat Surtain II, the Chargers capitalized on Denver’s offensive struggles. The Chargers improved to 3-3 on the season, keeping pace in the competitive AFC West.
Philadelphia Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson was a standout performer in the Eagles’ 20-16 victory over the Cleveland Browns. Finally, the Kansas City Chiefs secured a 26-13 win over the New Orleans Saints on Monday night. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes continued his strong season, leading his team to victory in front of a raucous home crowd.
