Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler was arrested for suspected DUI and handgun possession on Thursday in Tennessee.

TMZ Sports first reported that Cutler faced charges for driving under the influence, not exercising due care, violating implied consent laws, and possessing a handgun while impaired.

The Franklin Police Department confirmed to TMZ that Cutler was booked into Williamson County Jail and released after posting a $5,000 bond. He had a 12-year NFL career from 2006 to 2017 with three different teams.

He was originally picked 11th overall by the Denver Broncos and spent three seasons with the team. He threw for 4,528 yards and made the Pro Bowl in his last year with Denver.

The Broncos traded Cutler to the Chicago Bears before the 2009 season. He helped the Bears win a division title and reach the NFC Championship Game in his second season.

During a three-season period from 2010 to 2012, Chicago had a 27-13 record with Cutler as the starting quarterback. The team enjoyed four straight non-losing seasons from 2010 to 2013, which was the longest such stretch for the franchise from 1984 to 1988.

After spending eight seasons with the Bears, Cutler retired and joined Fox Sports as a broadcaster in May 2017. He returned to play just three months later when the Miami Dolphins needed a quarterback after Ryan Tannehill was injured for the season.

Cutler retired for good after the 2017 season, finishing his career with a 74-79 record in 153 starts.
