Dolphins running back De’Von Achane announced on Friday that he has cleared concussion protocol and is hoping to play on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.
Achane suffered a concussion in the first quarter of Miami’s Week 5 game against New England after a helmet-to-helmet hit from Jaylinn Hawkins. The second-year running back said he hasn’t had any symptoms since a few days after the hit.
“I’ve been feeling good, feeling great, feeling back to normal,” Achane said.
Achane has rushed for 183 yards on 53 carries with one rushing touchdown, and he has also been more involved in the passing game, with 21 catches on 23 targets for 186 yards.
He averaged 7.8 yards per carry as a rookie in 2023, finishing with 800 yards.
With Achane, rookie Jaylen Wright, and veteran Raheem Mostert—who missed three games due to a chest injury—the Dolphins should have a fully healthy running back group for the first time since Week 1.
“That means a defense can’t just kill one of us because … all of us are healthy now,” Achane said. “So any one of us can go in there and make plays and do what’s best for the team.”
