The Denver Nuggets have locked in another key player by reaching an agreement with forward Aaron Gordon for a four-year, $133 million contract extension on Monday night.
This deal was confirmed by his agents Calvin Andrews and Rich Paul from Klutch Sports, as well as Elise Gordon, Aaron’s older sister. Aaron played a significant role in helping the Nuggets win their first NBA championship in the 2022-23 season.
Gordon’s contract comes just a month after the Nuggets extended point guard Jamal Murray’s contract for four years at $208 million. The team also has three-time MVP Nikola Jokic signed until the 2026-27 season with an option for 2027-28, and sharpshooter Michael Porter Jr. is signed through 2026-27.
Entering his 11th NBA season, Gordon averaged 13.9 points and 6.5 rebounds last season, which is close to his career averages of 13.5 points and 6.3 rebounds.
After playing at Arizona, he was drafted fourth overall by the Orlando Magic in 2014. In March 2021, he was traded to the Nuggets, where he has become a reliable player for coach Michael Malone.
This season, Gordon is changing his jersey number to No. 32 to honor his brother, Drew, who tragically passed away in a car accident in Oregon this spring.
At media day, Gordon mentioned how the team has supported him through this difficult time. “These guys have been there for me every step of the way,” he said. “These guys have really developed into people that I would call my brothers.”
The Nuggets will start their season on Thursday night at home against Oklahoma City.
