Ottawa Senators vs St. Louis Blues

Tim Stutzle scored two goals and had two assists as the Ottawa Senators defeated the St. Louis Blues 8-1 on Tuesday night.

Brady Tkachuk and Adam Gaudette also scored two goals each for the Senators, who ended a two-game losing streak.

Josh Norris and Noah Gregor added to the score for Ottawa. Drake Batherson and Claude Giroux both had two assists, and goaltender Linus Ullmark made 26 saves.

Dylan Holloway scored for the Blues, who lost their second game in a row.

St. Louis goaltender Joel Hofer gave up five goals on 21 shots before being taken out in the second period.

Blues winger Kasperi Kapanen left the game in the second period due to an upper-body injury. The Senators outshot the Blues 16-8 in the first period, building a 3-0 lead.

Ottawa scored just 64 seconds into the game when Giroux rushed up the left wing and passed to Norris, who redirected the puck into the net.

The Senators made it 2-0 at 4:44 with a goal off the rush, as Michael Amadio carried the puck up and passed to Gregor for a shot from the left wing.

The Senators turned a two-on-one break into a goal to go up 3-0 with 4:56 left in the first period. Stutzle stole the puck, raced up the right wing, and fired a shot past Hofer.

Tkachuk added a power-play goal from the slot 8:55 into the second period, increasing the lead to 4-0.

Just 2:13 later, Tkachuk scored again on the power play, shooting from the top of the right circle to make it 5-0.

Jordan Binnington came in for Hofer and let in Gaudette’s goal from close range on his first shot, making it 6-0 for the Senators.

Stutzle scored again to push the score to 7-0, finishing off a pass from Thomas Chabot on the right side of the net.

Holloway ended Ullmark’s shutout chance with a power-play goal with 10:56 left in the game. However, Gaudette quickly responded to make it 8-1 by scoring after a turnover in front of the Blues’ net.
