Anton Forsberg made 22 saves to earn his second shutout of the season, leading the Ottawa Senators to a 3-0 win against the Seattle Kraken on Saturday night.

Tim Stutzle contributed a goal and an assist for the Senators, sealing the win with an empty-net goal with 2:14 left in the game. Adam Gaudette and Brady Tkachuk also scored for Ottawa, who had lost three of their last four games, including a 2-1 loss to the New York Rangers the night before.

The Kraken suffered their second straight loss and are now 1-2-0 on their five-game trip. Goaltender Philipp Grubauer stopped 20 of 22 shots.

The Senators scored first with a goal that went through a coach’s challenge at 5:28 of the first period. After a scramble in front of Seattle’s net, Zack MacEwen tried to push the puck in from just outside the left post.

The puck hit Grubauer’s pads, and while he tried to cover it with his glove, Nick Cousins poked it free to Gaudette, who scored from the right post.

The officials initially said Grubauer had frozen the puck, but Senators coach Travis Green challenged that call, and a review showed the goalie did not have full control, so the call was changed to a goal.

Ottawa increased its lead to 2-0 at 11:11 of the second period. Tim Stutzle carried the puck down the right wing and passed it to Jacob Bernard-Docker for a shot from the point. Tkachuk tipped the puck in from the slot, while teammate Ridly Greig stood in front of the net to block Grubauer’s view.

Kraken defenseman Brandon Montour, who scored a hat trick on Tuesday in an 8-2 win over Montreal, returned to the team after missing Thursday’s 4-1 loss to Toronto to be with his wife, Ryian, for the birth of their second child, a baby girl. Despite Montour being back, the Kraken went 0-for-4 on the power play.
