Kevin Durant scored 15 of his game-high 35 points in the fourth quarter, including the go-ahead basket with 24 seconds left, to help the Phoenix Suns come from behind and beat the Philadelphia 76ers 118-116 on Monday night.
Durant shot 14-of-20 from the field and also had six assists. His late-game performance helped the Suns finish with a 14-3 run, extending their winning streak to five games.
Tyrese Maxey led Philadelphia with 32 points, making six 3-pointers, but the team has now lost five of their first six games this season.
Paul George made his debut for the 76ers, scoring 15 points on 4-of-14 shooting. With 3.4 seconds left, he missed a chance to tie the game with a 23-foot shot, and Maxey missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer.
George had missed the first five games of the season due to a left knee injury. He joined the 76ers in the offseason after leaving the Los Angeles Clippers, where he had played alongside former MVP Joel Embiid, who has yet to play this season due to a knee issue.
For Phoenix, Bradley Beal contributed 17 points, Jusuf Nurkic had 15 points and 15 rebounds, and Royce O’Neale added 15 points.
Devin Booker struggled, finishing with just 13 points on 3-of-18 shooting, including missing all six of his 3-point attempts. Grayson Allen scored 14 points for the Suns, who shot 51.2 percent from the field and hit 11 of 32 from beyond the arc.
Guerschon Yabusele scored a career-high 19 points for the Philadelphia 76ers. Kyle Lowry added 13 points, Kelly Oubre Jr. contributed 11, and Eric Gordon scored 10. The 76ers shot 46 percent from the field and made 20 of 51 three-pointers.
Durant hit a 15-foot shot to give the Suns a 116-115 lead with one minute left, completing an 8-0 run for Phoenix. Maxey then made one of two free throws with 49.6 seconds to tie the game.
Earlier, Durant made a three-pointer to tie the game at 104 with 6:46 remaining. Maxey answered with a three-pointer of his own, and Yabusele made two three-pointers in 40 seconds, helping the 76ers go up 113-104 with 5:16 left.
Yabusele added a dunk with 3:39 left to give Philadelphia a 115-108 lead before the Suns scored the next eight points.
At halftime, Phoenix held a 65-63 lead. Durant had 15 points for the Suns, while Lowry scored 13 points for the 76ers.
