Martin Necas continued his strong play by scoring the go-ahead goal with 29.3 seconds left as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 6-4 on Tuesday night in Raleigh, N.C.
Necas scored his seventh goal of the season, helping the Hurricanes extend their current winning streak to seven games, the best in the league. With an assist earlier in the game, he now has 20 points in the last 10 games.
Jackson Blake, Eric Robinson, Jordan Martinook, and Jack Roslovic also scored for Carolina, and Seth Jarvis sealed the win with an empty-net goal. Brent Burns contributed two assists. Goalie Pyotr Kochetkov made 12 saves to earn the win, though he had some struggles during the game.
For the Flyers, Travis Konecny had a big night, scoring two goals and adding two assists. The Flyers were starting a three-game road trip. Owen Tippett and Morgan Frost also scored for Philadelphia, while Sean Couturier had two assists. Aleksei Kolosov made 29 saves in net.
Philadelphia showed better offensive play than in their previous three games, where they only scored four goals in total. However, they were limited to just three shots on goal in both the second and third periods.
Konecny opened the scoring with the only power-play goal of the game. Blake then tied it for Carolina in the first period. In the second period, Robinson and Martinook scored in quick succession, making it 3-1. This was Martinook’s first goal of the season.
Tippett cut the Hurricanes’ lead to one goal at 13:30 in the second period.
Frost tied the game early in the third with his first goal of the season, but Carolina answered quickly. Roslovic put the Hurricanes back in front just 29 seconds later.
Konecny then tied it again for the Flyers after a turnover by Carolina, scoring his seventh goal of the season with 10:43 left in the game.
