Bronny James has been assigned to the Los Angeles Lakers’ G League affiliate, meaning he will be part of the South Bay Lakers’ roster for their season opener this weekend.
The Lakers made the announcement on Thursday. Bronny, who is 20 years old, is the son of NBA star LeBron James.
Bronny has played in three games for the Lakers so far, scoring a total of four points in 13 minutes of playing time. On October 22, he and his father made NBA history when they became the first father-son duo to play together in a game during the Lakers’ season-opening victory over Minnesota.
Bronny also scored his first NBA basket on October 30 in Cleveland, the city where he grew up watching his dad play.
However, both LeBron and the Lakers have said that Bronny will spend a lot of time with the South Bay Lakers this season to continue developing his skills.
In the summer of 2023, Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest, which limited his playing time during his single season at the University of Southern California. He later declared for the NBA draft and was selected by the Lakers in the second round.
The South Bay Lakers play at the Lakers’ training facility in El Segundo and will host the Salt Lake City Stars on Saturday evening.
