Brandon Montour scored a goal and had an assist, while Joey Daccord made 24 saves for his first shutout of the season, leading the Seattle Kraken to a 3-0 victory over the Nashville Predators on Wednesday.
Daniel Sprong scored his first goal since returning to the Kraken, and Yanni Gourde added an empty-net goal. Chandler Stephenson recorded three assists, and Jaden Schwartz picked up two assists.
The Kraken finished their homestand with a 5-1-0 record, with Daccord earning all five victories, although he did not play in the 2-0 loss to the New York Rangers on Sunday.
Juuse Saros made 33 saves on 35 shots for the Predators, who ended their road trip with a 1-2-2 record.
This was Seattle’s second win against Nashville this season, having previously beaten the Predators 7-3 on October 15 in Nashville.
The Kraken outshot Nashville 10-6 in the first period and 17-8 in the second period but could only score one goal during that time.
Sprong opened the scoring at 15:55 of the second period. Montour kept the puck in the zone at the left point, then passed it backhanded between two Nashville defenders to Stephenson, who was alone in front. Stephenson deked before passing to Sprong for a tap-in at the left post.
Sprong, who scored 21 goals for Seattle last season when the Kraken reached Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals, was reacquired in a trade with the Vancouver Canucks on November 8.
The Kraken increased their lead just 23 seconds into the third period. Stephenson brought the puck over the blue line on the left wing and passed it across the slot to Montour, who redirected it past Saros as the goalie moved from one post to the other.
Nashville’s Tommy Novak thought he had scored at 10:38 of the third period, but after a video review, the goal was disallowed because Novak had kicked the puck into the net.
Gourde sealed the win with an empty-net goal at 17:17.
Kraken forward Shane Wright, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2022 draft, was a healthy scratch for the second game in a row. Wright has not recorded a point since October 17.
