Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown was fined $25,000 by the NBA on Friday for making an inappropriate gesture during a game.
Brown made a throat-slashing gesture after dunking over Isaiah Stewart with 12 seconds left in the first quarter of the Celtics’ 130-120 win over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday.
When asked about the gesture after the game, Brown acknowledged that he expected the league to take action.
“Oh, yeah. I think the NBA and the PA (Players Association) are sensitive about the gestures, so I gotta be mindful of that,” said Brown, who is also the vice president of the NBPA.
Brown, 28, is currently averaging 25.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists in 17 games this season. A three-time All-Star, Brown has played 557 career games (450 starts) with the Celtics, contributing 18.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.
