NBA recap: Thunder hold off Clippers for 6th consecutive victory

Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Clippers (NBA)

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 26 points and Aaron Wiggins added 19, helping the Oklahoma City Thunder extend their winning streak to six games with a 103-101 win over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Kawhi Leonard scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while James Harden contributed 17 points as the Clippers saw their five-game winning streak end.

With 22 seconds left, the Clippers were behind 101-100 and had several opportunities to take the lead. However, Norman Powell missed a 3-point shot, and Leonard missed a contested 21-foot jumper.

Gilgeous-Alexander made two free throws with three seconds left to push the lead to three points against his former team. The Clippers got the ball back, but Leonard was intentionally fouled. After missing the second free throw on purpose, the Clippers couldn’t score at the buzzer.

De’Andre Hunter added 15 points, and Evan Mobley contributed 11 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks. Darius Garland and Ty Jerome each scored 12 for the Cavs, who hadn’t won in nine days.

Kyle Filipowski led the short-handed Jazz with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Utah struggled, shooting just 36 percent from the field and losing for the 12th time in 13 games, including a poor 16-for-50 shooting from beyond the arc.

Young made four 3-pointers and recorded 12 assists for his 42nd double-double. He was joined by rookie Zaccharie Risacher, who scored 22 points, and Georges Niang, who had 20 points. The Hawks have won seven of their last nine games and hold a two-game lead for the No. 7 playoff spot in the East.

Philadelphia lost its fourth straight game and 19 of the last 22. The Sixers are now seven games behind Miami for the No. 10 playoff spot with 11 games remaining. Quentin Grimes scored 26 points for the 11th time in 20 games.
