The San Jose Sharks have made a trade, acquiring forward Oskar Olausson from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Danil Gushchin. General Manager Mike Grier confirmed the transaction, signaling a move to bring in young talent with NHL and AHL experience.
Olausson, 22, spent most of the previous season with the Colorado Eagles (AHL), where he played 61 games and recorded 26 points. He also made a brief appearance in two games for the Avalanche.
Throughout his North American professional career, Olausson has accumulated 66 points across 163 AHL games. Although he has only played in four NHL games so far, his development has been steady.
In the 2024 Calder Cup Playoffs, he registered three assists in seven games. The Swedish winger has also represented his country internationally, contributing to Sweden’s bronze medal finish in the 2022 World Junior Championship with five points in seven games.

Sharks Trade Gushchin for Olausson, Adding Size, Skill, and International Experience
Olausson stands out with his size at six-foot-two and 181 pounds and was a first-round pick by Colorado in the 2021 NHL Draft (28th overall). His combination of international experience, potential, and youth makes him an intriguing asset for San Jose as they continue to build for the future.
In exchange, the Sharks part ways with Danil Gushchin, a 23-year-old Russian forward who has been a key player for their AHL affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda. Gushchin tallied an impressive 150 points in 182 AHL games and also played 18 games at the NHL level, recording five points. Drafted by San Jose in the third round of the 2020 NHL Draft, Gushchin now gets a new opportunity with the Avalanche organization.
