In the headline bout of ONE Fight Night 19, Jonathan Haggerty is set to defend his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world championship against Felipe Lobo.
This clash has been brewing for some time, dating back to Haggerty’s ascent to the top of the division.
Their history took a significant turn when Haggerty delivered a knockout blow to Lobo’s teammate, Fabricio Andrade, during ONE Fight Night 16 last November.
Now, Lobo, known as ‘Demolition Man,’ aims to avenge his teammate’s defeat by unseating the champion in his inaugural defense of the Muay Thai crown on February 16.
In a recent discussion with the South China Morning Post, Andrade shared his insights on the upcoming showdown and emphasized the danger of underestimating an adversary as seasoned as Lobo:
“It’s going to be an intriguing match. I believe he might be underestimating Lobo, but Lobo has a wealth of experience fighting top-tier opponents, having lived in Thailand for a significant period, where he honed his skills in Muay Thai. He’s astute, formidable, and driven, with a strong desire to claim the world championship.”
