A former Real Madrid doctor recently disclosed that Cristiano Ronaldo was not the most outstanding athlete he had ever encountered.
Ronaldo, currently plying his trade for Saudi Pro League outfit Al Nassr at the age of 39, continues to showcase his enduring prowess on the football field.
The Portuguese maestro, who clinched the title of top global goalscorer across major leagues in 2023, remains in impeccable physical shape.
His unwavering dedication to fitness and health has been evident throughout his career, with numerous stories highlighting his rigorous training regimen.
In a notable instance during the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, Ronaldo arrived at a Juventus training session four hours ahead of schedule to complete additional fitness routines. The following year, he made headlines by removing a Coca-Cola can from his table during a Euro 2020 press conference, advocating for water instead.
However, former Real Madrid doctor Jesus Olmo, who closely collaborated with Ronaldo at the Bernabeu, asserted that one of the Portuguese star’s former teammates surpassed him as a more well-rounded athlete.
“Possibly the most exceptional athlete I’ve ever witnessed is Gareth Bale, “Olmo revealed to Spanish outlet Ideal in 2020.
“He possesses a natural athleticism, excelling in practically any sport. His genetic makeup and physical abilities are extraordinary, alongside commendable technical prowess.
“Bale left the most lasting impression on me in all aspects, although performance is influenced by various circumstances.”
Bale’s remarkable physical attributes, including his blistering speed and formidable strength, were evident throughout his career, with the former Tottenham and Real Madrid winger frequently dismantling opposing defenses.
The Welsh international retired from professional football in January 2023 following the World Cup.
Now 34 years old, Bale has turned his focus to golf, practicing regularly. His agent revealed last year that he declined an offer from League Two side Wrexham to return to football, citing a lack of desire to resume playing.
