Sevilla is reportedly eyeing a summer move for Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof as they seek to bolster their squad for the upcoming season in La Liga. Lindelof, the Sweden international, is reportedly open to departing the Premier League after facing a downturn in his fortunes at Old Trafford.
Having arrived at Manchester United from Benfica in 2017, Lindelof initially enjoyed regular playing time but has since found himself in a lesser role, often deployed out of his preferred position.
Sevilla recently engaged in business with Manchester United, securing the loan signing of Hannibal Mejbri until the end of the season. Now, they’re looking to secure Lindelof permanently, according to reports from TEAMTalk.
Despite extending Lindelof’s contract by a year earlier in the season, Manchester United is reportedly willing to let him leave as he enters the final year of his current deal.
Sevilla sees Lindelof as a potential replacement for Sergio Ramos, who is anticipated to leave the club at the end of the season. The Spanish club hopes to secure Lindelof’s services for a modest fee.
Since joining Manchester United, Lindelof has amassed 254 appearances, with 23 of those coming this season. However, the defender is reportedly discontent with being deployed as a makeshift left-back due to the absence of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
