Reports suggest that Liverpool winger Luis Diaz is poised to depart alongside his manager Jurgen Klopp after the ongoing 2023-24 campaign.
Diaz, who joined the Reds in a potential £50 million move from Porto in January 2022, has been an integral part of the team’s starting lineup over the past two years. The 27-year-old has played a significant role in Liverpool’s success, contributing to the team’s trophy haul, which includes the recent 2023-24 EFL Cup triumph.
According to The Sun, Diaz’s future at Anfield is uncertain, particularly if Liverpool opts to offer a new contract to superstar attacker Mohamed Salah. The club is reportedly looking to generate funds to accommodate Salah’s potential salary increase.
With Liverpool currently leading the 2023-24 Premier League table with 60 points from 26 matches, securing Salah’s long-term commitment is a top priority for Klopp’s side. Salah, 31, has only 16 months remaining on his current contract and could attract interest from other clubs ahead of the next season.
Moreover, Liverpool’s hierarchy remains confident in their young talent pool, including promising teenage attackers such as Ben Doak, Kaide Gordon, Lewis Koumas, and Jayden Danns.
Diaz, whose contract with Liverpool is set to expire in June 2027, has made 60 starts in 82 overall appearances for the club. The Colombian international, capped 45 times, has contributed 21 goals and 13 assists during his tenure at Anfield.
