Danish footballer Morten Hjulmand, adorned with an Arsenal crest tattoo on his right shoulder, is reportedly catching the eye of their north London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur.
As per a recent report from RECORD, the 24-year-old defensive midfielder is a prime target for Spurs in the upcoming summer transfer window. With midfielders Oliver Skipp and Pierre Emile Hojbjerg potentially departing at the season’s end, Tottenham is keen to secure a dependable replacement.
Currently plying his trade for Portuguese outfit Sporting CP, Hjulmand made the switch from Leece in August 2023 for a reported fee of €18 million. Since then, he has amassed 35 appearances for Sporting across various competitions, notching two goals and four assists.
Impressed by his performances, Tottenham has expressed keen interest in acquiring the services of the Danish talent. However, Hjulmand’s allegiance lies with Spurs’ arch-rivals, Arsenal, evident from his inked Gunners crest. Additionally, he openly confessed to his ardent support for Arsenal.
“When I began watching football, Arsenal boasted a formidable squad, with Patrick Vieira leading the midfield as captain. He remains a significant inspiration for me,” he revealed (via One Football).
“My father had been a longstanding Arsenal supporter, and we bonded over watching their matches from a young age. Thierry Henry was another player whose brilliance left a lasting impact,” Hjulmand reminisced.
Currently positioned fifth in the Premier League standings with 47 points from 25 games, Tottenham is set to host Crystal Palace at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, March 2nd.
