On the National League side, Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers was recognized as an outstanding player. Ohtani achieved a historic feat this season, becoming the first player in MLB history to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a single season.
He finished with a batting average of .310, along with 54 home runs, 130 RBIs, and 59 stolen bases. Ohtani’s prior recognition includes being named the American League’s outstanding player in 2021 and 2023, showcasing his consistent excellence in the league.
Rhys Hoskins of the Milwaukee Brewers received the Marvin Miller Man of the Year Award for his inspirational leadership, alongside the Philanthropist of the Year Award. Hoskins, together with his wife Jayme, has made significant contributions to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, raising over $1 million to support the cause. Additionally, Dave Winfield was honored with the Curt Flood Award for his lifelong commitment to advancing players’ rights and his dedication to the players’ union, reflecting his influential role in the sport.
In other award categories, Chris Sale from Atlanta was named the National League’s outstanding pitcher and comeback player, while Tarik Skubal from Detroit earned the same title for the American League. Tyler O’Neill from Boston was also recognized as the American League comeback player. The outstanding rookie awards went to Jackson Merrill of San Diego and Colton Cowser of Baltimore, highlighting the emerging talent within Major League Baseball.
