Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has confirmed his intention to continue playing in 2024, and he’s even eyeing the possibility of extending his career beyond that timeline.
During a recent appearance on the Look Into It Podcast with Eddie Bravo, Rodgers shared his aspirations for the remainder of his time in the league. “I’m hopeful I can play two or three or four more years, but you need to have some good fortune in there too,” Rodgers stated, as reported by John Breech of CBSSports.com.
Despite being limited to just four snaps in 2023 due to a torn Achilles, Rodgers remains determined to push forward. If he were to continue playing for four more years, he would reach the age of 43, turning 44 during the fourth season.
The challenge for Rodgers lies not in his arm strength, which is expected to remain intact, but rather in preserving the health of his aging legs. To prolong his career, he’ll need to minimize stress on his joints and focus on making quick decisions rather than relying on his mobility.
The question of where Rodgers will finish his career adds an intriguing subplot. While currently with the Jets, Rodgers has acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the team’s future performance.
If the Jets fail to meet expectations, there’s speculation that Rodgers could follow a similar path to Brett Favre and seek opportunities elsewhere, perhaps with the Vikings.
