Lindsey Harding is joining JJ Redick’s coaching staff for the Los Angeles Lakers, according to a source familiar with the decision speaking to The Associated Press on Tuesday.

The source, who requested anonymity because the Lakers have not officially announced Redick’s coaching team, revealed that Harding will serve as the Lakers’ first female assistant coach. This coaching staff also includes former NBA head coaches Nate McMillan and Scott Brooks.

Harding, 40 years old, earned recognition as the G League’s Coach of the Year last season with the Stockton Kings, making history as the first woman to win this award. She brings experience as an assistant coach, player development coach, and scout from her previous roles with the Sacramento Kings and Philadelphia 76ers.

Lindsey Harding (NBA)

Harding has a strong connection with Redick dating back to their college days at Duke University, where both were standout players. She was named the Naismith College Player of the Year in 2007 and later enjoyed a nine-year career in the WNBA, including two seasons with the Los Angeles Sparks.

Under Harding’s leadership, the Stockton Kings achieved a 24-10 record and advanced to the G League’s conference finals last season.

ESPN initially reported Harding’s addition to the Lakers, citing her association with Redick, her former colleague.
