Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper was back in action for Saturday’s game against the New York Yankees after being sidelined for a week due to a sore lower back.
Harper hadn’t played in a spring training game since March 14 but participated in a simulated game on Friday.
Last year, Harper transitioned to playing first base after spending 11 seasons as an outfielder. He made the switch following his return from Tommy John surgery in November.
Although he initially served as a designated hitter in May, Harper started playing first base regularly from July onwards, totaling 36 starts during the regular season and 13 in the playoffs.
Harper faced setbacks last summer due to back spasms, which caused him to exit a game against Washington on August 10. Consequently, he made only six starts in the field over the next 21 games.
The Philadelphia Phillies are set to kick off their regular season on Thursday with a home game against the Atlanta Braves.
