Minnesota Timberwolves sensation Anthony Edwards, living up to his potential as the top pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, continues to garner acclaim, including securing a lucrative shoe deal with Adidas.

The budding NBA star has unveiled his inaugural signature sneaker, the AE1, set to hit shelves on Thursday, with additional colorways slated for release at a later date.

During Wednesday’s game against the Washington Wizards, Edwards sported his AE1s and achieved a career-first: securing a victory against the Wizards.

Surprisingly, before this matchup, Edwards had never emerged victorious against the Wizards, leading some to speculate about a potential curse haunting him.

Following his breakthrough win, Edwards playfully attributed his success to his footwear, quipping, “It’s the shoes,” about the AE1s he donned during the game.

Edwards’ response bears resemblance to Michael Jordan’s iconic “It’s Gotta Be The Shoes” commercial from the past.

Wearing the AE1s, Anthony Edwards delivered an exceptional scoring performance against the Wizards.

Anthony Edwards continues to showcase his scoring prowess for the Timberwolves this season, leading the team with an impressive average of 25.8 points per game across 41 outings. His standout performance against the Wizards further solidified his scoring prowess, as he dropped a staggering 38 points to lead all scorers, contributing significantly to the Wolves’ 118-107 victory.

This remarkable display served as a rebound for Edwards, particularly after his relatively subdued nine-point performance in their previous game, a close 128-125 loss to the Charlotte Hornets.

Notably, Edwards’ 30-point outburst against the Wizards marked the 16th time this season that he achieved the 30-point milestone in a game, underlining his consistency and offensive capabilities.

Since his rookie season in the NBA, where he led all rookies in points per game with an average of 19.3, Edwards has continued to elevate his scoring prowess. He notably became the only rookie from his class to surpass 1,000 points, concluding the season with an impressive total of 1,392 points.

As he progressed in his NBA journey, Edwards’ scoring averages have seen a steady rise each season. From averaging 21.3 points per game in his sophomore season, he further elevated his scoring output to 24.6 points per game last year, culminating in an impressive 28.5 points per game average this season.

Beyond his scoring abilities, Anthony Edwards has also demonstrated versatility on the court, averaging 5.2 assists per game and 5.3 rebounds per game this season, showcasing his well-rounded skill set as a valuable asset for the Timberwolves.
