Following his heel turn at Vengeance Day last Sunday, Carmelo Hayes continued his disruptive path on NXT this week by assaulting Ilja Dragunov.
The NXT Champion challenged Hayes during the show, but their confrontation was interrupted by Dijak, leading to a match between them in the main event. The clash commenced with a barrage of blows exchanged between the two stars. Ilja executed a vertical suplex on Dijak but followed up with another one, maintaining the hold.
Dijak retaliated with a flurry of strikes in the corner, countered by Ilja’s fierce chops. Ilja aimed for a knee strike but missed, allowing Dijak to deliver a thunderous boot in the corner.
As Ilja seemed poised for his signature move, the H-Bomb, his opponent super kicked him off the top rope, sending him crashing to the floor.
A mysterious presence emerged from under the ring, attempting to ensnare Dijak’s leg. Back in the ring, Ilja struck Dijak with a resounding slap, only for Dijak to respond with a punch that sent the champion tumbling. Despite Dijak’s attempt to execute the Feast Your Eyes maneuver, Ilja seized his leg, leading to a flurry of kicks exchanged between them.
Ilja elevated the intensity by landing a senton from the top rope, securing a two-count. Dijak retaliated with a springboard elbow from the top rope.
However, while lying prone on the mat, Dijak fell prey to a surprise attack from Joe Gacy, who emerged from beneath the ring and struck Dijak with a boxing glove. Seizing the opportunity, Ilja unleashed the H-Bomb to secure the victory.
