Andy Dalton watched closely as Bryce Young struggled during his first season with the Panthers. The team had a tough season, winning only two out of 17 games, and Young faced challenges like being sacked 62 times due to a weak offensive line and having limited options in the receiving team.
Speaking on The Jim Rome Show, Dalton mentioned that Young had never faced such difficulties in football. He encouraged Young to stay determined because things would improve eventually.
Dalton is optimistic about the changes made by the team this offseason, such as signing new guards and acquiring wide receiver Diontae Johnson. He believes these moves will lead to better outcomes for Young.
“I thought he handled it well, and I kept telling him, ‘Just stay the course. This thing is going to get better, it’s going to improve,’” Dalton said.
“And I think what we have done this offseason, bringing in some guys, bringing in a couple of guards on the offensive line, you know, different things, trading for Diontae Johnson, I think it’s getting built the right way where, yeah, it’s going to set him up to have a better year.”
The Panthers have also made changes in the coaching staff, and everyone in Carolina hopes these adjustments will help Young showcase his true potential after a disappointing debut season in the NFL.
