Andy Murray won’t participate in the Monte Carlo Masters and Munich Open next month because he’s recovering from a bad ankle injury he got during the Miami Open.

The injury happened during his match against Tomas Machac, which he lost. His team announced that he hurt his ankle badly, and he’ll need time to heal.

Murray’s medical team is still figuring out how long it will take for him to recover. This news is disappointing for Murray, who wants to get back to playing tennis as soon as possible.

Murray, who used to be the world number one and has won three Grand Slam titles, had surgery on his hip in 2019. He had said earlier that he didn’t plan to play for too long after this summer, but he wanted to take part in the Olympics.

He also hoped to play in the French Open, which starts on May 26. Wimbledon, where he’s won twice, begins on July 1, and the Paris Olympics start later that month.

The Monte Carlo Masters will happen from April 7 to April 14, and the Munich Open from April 15 to April 21.
