Inter Milan forward Marko Arnautović will be sidelined for another month due to injury, while teammate Carlos Augusto will also miss the upcoming Champions League clash against Atlético Madrid. Both players sustained injuries during Inter’s recent 1-0 victory over Bologna and underwent medical assessments on Monday.
According to a statement released by the club, Arnautović suffered a muscle strain in his right thigh, while Carlos Augusto sustained a calf strain in his right leg. The statement also mentioned that both players will undergo further evaluation in the coming days.
Inter, the runner-up in last season’s Champions League, holds a 1-0 lead over Atlético Madrid from the first leg, courtesy of Arnautović’s late goal.
Reports from Italian media suggest that Arnautović could be out for approximately a month, while Carlos Augusto may have a chance of returning for Inter’s upcoming Serie A fixture against Napoli.
Arnautović, 34, who returned to Inter on loan from Bologna last August, had already missed two months earlier in the season due to a hamstring injury.
Despite the setbacks, Inter has maintained an impeccable record, winning all 13 of their matches this year across Serie A, the Italian Super Cup, and the Champions League. Currently, Simone Inzaghi’s side leads Serie A by a comfortable 16-point margin.
