Arsenal enthusiast Darren Bent has expressed his willingness to part with one of his team’s top talents in exchange for the opportunity to bring Kylian Mbappe to the Emirates Stadium.
Mbappe’s impending departure from Paris Saint-Germain has triggered significant interest from top clubs, with Real Madrid emerging as the likely destination for the prolific forward, despite not being the highest-paid player at the club.
However, speculation suggests that Arsenal could also be contenders for Mbappe’s signature, with manager Mikel Arteta addressing the Frenchman’s decision to move on from PSG.
Bent, who boasts a career spanning clubs like Tottenham, Sunderland, and Aston Villa, revealed his readiness to part ways with Bukayo Saka to secure Mbappe’s services if the opportunity arose.
When asked if he would trade Saka and Martin Odegaard for Mbappe, Bent responded on talkSPORT, stating: “No, I’m not swapping both of them. I’d give one of them and another player.”
In a further discussion, Andy Goldstein proposed swapping Saka and Gabriel Jesus for Mbappe, to which Bent affirmed, “Yeah, I’d do that.” Explaining his rationale, he elaborated: “You’d have a center-forward who was going to smash goals in and he can play on that right-hand side as well. I’m not giving up Saka and Odegaard. I’d give up Gabriel Jesus and Odegaard, or Gabriel Jesus and Saka.”
Bent concluded with a touch of reluctance, acknowledging the talent and potential of Saka, stating, “That pains me because Saka, an academy graduate, but you are talking about arguably the best player on the planet and he’s not old, he’s young. I love Mbappe. I’d play him down the middle but he’s versatile, which is what I like – he can play on either flank.”
Saka has been a standout performer for Arsenal since his breakthrough into the first team, while Mbappe continues to dazzle with his remarkable goal-scoring prowess, having netted 31 goals in all competitions this season.
