Arsenal kept pushing for the Premier League title with a convincing 3-0 victory over Bournemouth. This win briefly placed Mikel Arteta’s team four points ahead of second-placed Manchester City. However, City narrowed the gap back to just one point by defeating Wolverhampton 5-1 later in the day, and they still have a game in hand.
The first goal came from Bukayo Saka, who converted a penalty in the 45th minute after Kai Havertz was fouled. Leandro Trossard and Declan Rice added two more goals in the second half, securing Arsenal’s fourth consecutive league win.
Arsenal, aiming for its first league title since 2004, still has two matches left to play – away against Manchester United and at home against Everton.
Havertz earned the penalty by getting tripped inside the box, and Saka made no mistake from the spot, scoring Arsenal’s 16th shot of the match.
Bournemouth showed some fight in the second half but lost momentum when Rice set up Trossard for the second goal in the 70th minute. Rice himself sealed the win with a goal in the seventh minute of stoppage time.
At 2-0, Bournemouth thought they had scored through Ryan Christie, but it was disallowed after a VAR check confirmed a push on Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya by Dominic Solanke during the buildup.
