Ashton Jeanty rushed for 149 yards and scored two touchdowns, while Maddux Madsen passed for 307 yards and four touchdowns—both personal bests—as No. 15 Boise State dominated San Diego State 56-24 on Friday night, marking their sixth consecutive win.

Jeanty achieved his eighth consecutive game with over 100 rushing yards, breaking the previous school record held by Jay Ajayi since 2014. Although he had a tough first half with only 37 yards on 15 carries, he bounced back with 112 rushing yards in the third quarter before resting in the fourth.

“We’re facing a lot of challenges in stopping the run,” said Boise State coach Spencer Danielson. “But the throws Maddux made were exactly what we needed.”

Madsen completed 24 of 32 passes with no interceptions for the Broncos (7-1, 4-0 Mountain West).

“Maddux played at an elite level tonight, and I believe he still has even more potential,” Danielson said. “There are areas where he can improve, but he performed exceptionally well with his passing and by running for some first downs. I’m very proud of him.”

After scoring touchdowns on their first two drives, A’Marion McCoy returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown, putting the Broncos up 21-0 late in the first quarter. Boise State continued to score, making it three consecutive possessions with a touchdown midway through the second quarter.

The Broncos’ only loss this season was a close game against now-No. 1 Oregon, where they fell 37-34 on September 7. They have now beaten San Diego State three times in a row for the first time.

San Diego State coach Sean Lewis’s defense focused on stopping Jeanty right from the start, pushing Madsen to throw instead. “We did a great job of bringing multiple players to stop the run early on, and they have many strong players,” Lewis said.

“I know Ashton Jeanty gets a lot of attention, and he deserves it because of his talent. But because of his strength and how many players you have to commit to stopping him, it opens things up for their passing game, which they executed well.”

Latrell Caples was Boise State’s top receiver, gaining 90 yards and scoring three touchdowns on six catches. Cameron Camper caught four passes for 50 yards.

For San Diego State, Marquez Cooper rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. Danny O’Neil passed for 155 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
