One particular number that stood out in Paolo Banchero’s performance in his fifth NBA playoff game was 21.

The second-year forward scored an impressive 39 points, nearly leading Orlando to victory against Cleveland in Game 5 on Tuesday night. Despite falling short with a 104-103 loss, Banchero, who won’t turn 22 until November, showcased why he’s seen as one of the rising stars in the league, hinting at the potential the Magic hold for the future.

As the first overall pick in the 2022 draft, Banchero displayed his talent by shooting 14 of 24 from the field, making four 3-pointers, and contributing eight rebounds and four assists in 38 minutes of play.

Throughout the second half, Banchero displayed his scoring ability with contested jumpers and fadeaways, keeping the Magic in the game almost single-handedly.

His performance left the Cavaliers struggling to contain the 6-foot-10, 250-pound forward, who exhibits a level of maturity beyond his years.

Despite his outstanding effort, Banchero admitted feeling physically and emotionally drained after the game, having given his all to try and secure a crucial win for his team.

While the Magic’s shooting improved compared to Games 1 and 2 in Cleveland, they still fell short. Now, they face a must-win situation in Game 6 at home to keep their playoff hopes alive. Banchero remains determined, emphasizing the team’s resolve not to end their season prematurely.
