Atalanta continued its success after defeating Liverpool in the Europa League by winning 2-1 against Monza in a local Serie A match on Sunday.

Ademola Lookman played a key role in both goals, assisting with a corner kick for Charles De Ketelaere’s header and setting up El Bilal Toure for a counterattack finish.

Monza managed to pull one goal back through Daniel Maldini in the 89th minute and nearly scored again when he hit the post in stoppage time.

This victory moved Atalanta up to sixth place, just one point behind Roma in the race for the last Champions League spot.

Additionally, Atalanta has a chance to qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa League, as they beat Liverpool 3-1 on aggregate in the quarterfinals and will face Marseille in the semifinals.

On Wednesday, Atalanta will also aim to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Fiorentina in the second leg of the Italian Cup semifinals.

Fiorentina secured a 2-0 victory against last-place Salernitana with late goals from Christian Kouame and Jonathan Ikone, moving them up to ninth place and back into contention for a European spot.

Salernitana, meanwhile, is facing the possibility of relegation with a 13-point gap from safety and just five rounds remaining.

Fiorentina ended a five-match winless streak in Serie A and also has a game in hand against Atalanta.

Before kickoff, there was a brief clash between Salernitana and Fiorentina fans, resulting in injuries to 10 police officers, but no arrests were reported.

Additionally, 10th-place Torino drew 0-0 with Frosinone, who are struggling in third from the bottom.
