Despite having achieved three top-10 starts in five races this season, Austin Cindric’s recent fourth-place finish at Atlanta remains his sole performance better than 22nd, leaving him entrenched in 21st place in the series standings.

Throughout the season, Cindric and his No. 2 Ford team have showcased impressive speed, yet their potential has often been stifled by various race incidents. Accidents at Daytona and Phoenix, as well as a mishap involving a corded tire at Bristol, have hindered their ability to fully demonstrate their capabilities on the track.

As the series heads to Circuit of the Americas for the first road course challenge of 2024, drivers will navigate the circuit under NASCAR’s new short track/road course aero package, which debuted at Phoenix two weeks prior.

Expressing his optimism, Cindric, aged 25, views this race as an opportunity to reset and refocus following recent setbacks. He anticipates a smoother race and looks forward to extended green flag running. Despite the need to adapt to the new package, Cindric remains eager to capitalize on the potential offered by the upcoming race.

Drawing from his extensive road racing background in sports cars, Cindric boasts six road course wins across NASCAR’s Xfinity and Trucks series. While he has yet to secure a victory in a Cup road race, his competitive performances underline his potential to contend.

Cindric’s upcoming appearance at COTA marks his fourth series start at the venue, maintaining a streak of qualifying within the top 10 for each race. With consecutive top 10 finishes, including a standout sixth-place finish last season, Cindric enters the race with confidence in his ability to perform.

Despite recent challenges, Cindric emphasizes his competitiveness at COTA, highlighting his track record of leading laps in every Cup race at the venue. While not his personal favorite, COTA remains a track where he has consistently excelled, instilling a sense of hunger to execute and deliver results amidst recent setbacks.

Reflecting on the challenges posed by recent races, Cindric acknowledges the difficulty in pinpointing specific areas for improvement. However, he emphasizes the importance of a clean and uneventful race to capitalize on their potential.

As COTA presents a multifaceted challenge with diverse corner types and varying speeds, Cindric recognizes the need for a comprehensive approach to remain competitive. Despite potential tire wear concerns, he remains confident in his team’s ability to navigate the demanding circuit and contends that success hinges on a holistic understanding of the track’s nuances.
